Snorkel

Amazing Reef, it's way bigger than on the east side! You'll see a flag on a pole in the water, walk close to it (take care lots of sea stars on the way), start to swim as soon as possible. When you made it over the first coral wall (little shallow, depending on the tide) a colorful and big reef awaits you. The best spot I found on Gili Air so far. Maybe use a T-shirt, sometimes there are jellyfish larvaes.

Definitely one of the most beautiful, alive and secluded coral snorkeling sites on Gili A. However, DO NOT ignore the warnings about low tide, it is very real. Google tide schedule for the island and just go swimming within the 1.5 hours of highest tide at daylight. To get to the pretty spot where swimming is easy and you leisurely snorkel, you first have to cross about 100 meters of very shallow sandy seagrass zone, and then a VERY shallow rock-coral wavebreaker. Do NOT attempt at low tide or you will have the experience of the low reviewers :( if youre an experienced swimmer and have gloves/watershoes, im sure you can get through unscraped at low tide too. Really good spot for snorkeling, plenty of turtles and cool coral. You have to swim past the grass, behind where the waves break. This might seem a bit far from the shore but will be worth it. Go at mid to high tide, otherwise it's too shallow to swim out and water at outgoing tide might not be as clear.

Suitable for snorkelling early in the morning 👍 Definitely not recommended at low tide. The water will be murky and you will go far and still have knee deep water and end up not going through the corals that are just below the surface.

Please don’t go here ! I don’t know the genius who added this location as snorkel location but is completely wrong . The water is super dirty , you can’t see anything , we were swimming so far and we still couldn’t see any fish or any coral !!!! This is not the spot for snorkelling! The best point for snorkelling is on the east side of the island - in front of sedjiwa cafe and others !
