Sanur Harbour
REVIEWS
WHO IS THIS FOR? Ideal for travelers heading to nearby islands via fast boat from Sanur, looking for a simple and organized harbor experience. Only harbour that can be used to get to other island. 🌟 3 THINGS I ENJOYED: 1️⃣ Well-Organized Access 🚢: The harbor does a good job of directing people to the correct boat with the use of lanyards, making it easier to navigate a busy port. Everything felt systematic, and it was clear where to go when it was time to board the boat. 2️⃣ Friendly Staff 🙋♂️: The staff were friendly and always available to assist. They helped make sure everyone knew where their boat was and when to get in line, which made the entire process hassle-free. 3️⃣ Clean Bathrooms 🚻: For a busy harbor, the bathrooms were surprisingly well-kept. Clean restrooms are always a plus when you're waiting around for a while, so it made the experience more comfortable. 💬 PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: Sanur Harbour was a straightforward experience overall. It wasn't as crowded as I expected, and the process felt very well organized from arrival to boarding. The small waiting area wasn’t fancy, but there are plenty of shops outside the harbor for snacks, drinks, and last-minute purchases. The lanyard system made it clear which boat I was getting on, so I didn’t have to worry about confusion or being in the wrong line. However, it was a bit inconvenient that there were no screens or boards to indicate which boat was coming up next. That would have been helpful, especially when the harbor starts getting busier. The bathrooms were clean, which is always a relief in such busy places. 💡 A FEW NOTES: 1️⃣ Water Cooler 🥶: While the bathrooms were clean, the water cooler inside the waiting area was empty. If you're in need of a drink, you’ll need to go outside the harbor, where you can find stores selling drinks, or bring your own. 2️⃣ Missing Information 🖥️: It would be great if there was a display board or TV showing upcoming boat departures. It would make the wait a bit more informative, especially when you're unsure of exactly when your boat will leave. FOLLOW ME FOR MORE INFORMATION AROUND THE WORLD: Like this review? 1. Check in at your ferry's office located about 100 meters north of the port. They won't let you in the port until then. 2. You then walk from the ferry's office to the port with your luggage and bags in the rain and sun 3. You wait around outside of the port until 30 minutes before your ferry's departure time. They won't let you in otherwise. In the sun. In the rain 4. Once you're allowed in then you can come inside the port. 5. Board the ferry. The check in counters are not used for anything. The pier going into the dock already has some of the planks loose and can pose a tripping hazard. The boarding process from the waiting area to the ferry is like herding cattle, very disorganized. Welcome to Bali.

Don’t come too early. If your boat depart at 8:30am, they will only allow you to enter the building at 8:30am otherwise you have to wait outside. The toilet can be considered as clean, only thing missing is the toilet paper. Overall nice and clean area. The staff are quite efficient.

New harbour building. Very nice Balinese design with modern facilities. Escalators, lifts, disabled access. toilets are clean but I think we would need more stalls. Parking are big & within reasonable price, able to use cash & QRIS.

Board a boat to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan from here. Over the years, It has undergone significant changes and revamping. I would say it's for the better although the process to become what it is right now was troublesome. They are not done yet, but everything seems functional now. Previously, passengers had to wade through the water to board the boat, there was no proper jetty or boarding point, only one waiting area with a lot of chaos and confusion. Now, it has proper facilities in the form of a beautiful building with two Balinese dragon heads and it looks like a large boat. I haven't gone inside yet because since the building is in operation, I haven't had chance to visit Nusa Penida again. They won't let you in unless you take the boat, which is a good thing to ensure efficency. From what I've seen, the facilities and operations continue to improve. When it first opened, we came here at night and got stuck in the car park for more than an hour, unable to get out because there was a massive jam through the ticketing bottle neck. Disclaimer: I'm not sure it doesn't happen now, because since then I refuse to come except early in the morning, but there is a new parking area (dirt floor not pavement) nearby so hopefully it's better. It seems better because the road outside is not as jammed as it used to during the peak hour of the harbor (morning and early evening, especially during the weekend). I don't like what they've done to the central parking area, right after entering the ticketing gate. They have changed it to diagonal lines but the arrangement is kind of retarded. There are barely enough space to maneuver, it used to be better. However, there are new tidier lots in front of fish head restaurant, but if you come later, it's full. The entry to Sunrise beach used to be full motorcycle parking area, but now they tidy it up to the side, making the place looks clean and good. There are eateries next to the Harbor building, but it looks quite cramped. The alternative is the row of charming local warungs that open early, serving good food with best prices. Other facilities include toilet, mini mart, atm, ticket counters, but they are quite scattered around. Parking is affordable at 2000/3000 per hour, but beware of the clock! I think they don't use the same clock for entry and exit. I was double billed before when I was still 15 minutes away from the second hour. The system shows I had passed the time, but it wasn't the case for the actual clock (which was admitted by the clerk itself). Not sure what happened.
