This was hands down one of the best experiences ever! The monkeys were absolutely adorable and playful—I even had two climb onto me, which was such a fun and unforgettable moment. They seemed so comfortable around people, which made the experience even better. The entire place is surrounded by lush greenery, giving it a calm, natural vibe that feels like stepping into a peaceful paradise. I loved every second of being there, just soaking in the beauty and energy of the place. If you enjoy nature and playful little animals, this spot is a must-visit. It’s the kind of place that leaves you with a big smile and memories you’ll want to hold onto forever.

We went to this monkey forest as well as the main one in Ubud, and I have to say this one is so much better. In Ubud, the monkeys are aggressive and try to steal your things. I looked at a monkey forest half a second and it was already looking like it was about to attack me. You are not supposed to bring or give food. Here, on the other hand, you are given a bag of peanuts with your entry fee, and you’re given a bottle of water. The monkeys are very kind. You hold out your hand with a peanut, and they will grab it from your hand. We had a guide show us around and he had the monkeys jump on us numerous times for pictures. The guides do kind of force themselves on you, so just bring some money in order to pay them(no set cost, just what you feel they deserve). As others have said, this place is smaller compared to Sacred Monkey Forest… there are just less pathways. One main path takes you to the center and around. The trees all over the forest are beautiful!

My visit to Sangeh Monkey Forest in Bali started off feeling like a magical experience—like stepping into a monkey paradise. Monkeys were everywhere, and it was adorable to see them up close. We had a guide who whistled for the monkeys, and they eagerly came over to interact with us. Each of us had the chance to feed the monkeys and even have them sit on our shoulders or heads. It was all fun until one of the monkeys on my shoulder suddenly launched off, scratching my neck deeply with its claws. I was alarmed to see blood and immediately concerned about the potential risks. Although the staff reassured me that the monkeys were disease-free, it took over half an hour before someone provided alcohol to clean the wound. Unfortunately, in the following days, I became very ill. I needed an infusion in Bali, and upon returning to Australia, I went straight to my clinic. Blood and urine tests confirmed a bacterial infection and poor liver function. It took two courses of antibiotics and several months before my liver returned to normal. This experience was incredibly disappointing because I genuinely love monkeys. I know the incident wasn’t out of aggression, but in hindsight, I wish I had been better informed about the risks. Had I known, I would have covered my skin completely to avoid exposure. While Sangeh Monkey Forest is beautiful and offers a unique experience, I strongly recommend that visitors exercise caution. Wear protective clothing that covers all exposed skin to ensure your visit remains safe and enjoyable.

It's good to go and have a look around. The price is quite expensive as about half the park is closed currently for renovations of the temple and some paths. Loads of monkeys, all very used to the tourists and some really fat because of it. You kind of get guided around by an employee who wants to take official phones of couples and get monkeys to sit on you. Two things we didn't want. No matter what we did, we couldn't shake him and he followed/guided us around. Impressive tress and nature, some interesting statues and carvings.

I had a lovely experience at the forest. The place is pretty well maintained, and the monkeys are lovely of course, not aggressive and very importantly, not after your phone or glasses like monkeys in other spots in Bali are. For the entrance fee of 75k you get a small water and a small bag of peanuts to feed the monkeys. On the left of the entrance there’s a road and some stairs that lead to a beautiful river in the jungle. I was lucky enough to be told of the place by one of the guys working there, because I couldn’t see any signs pointing to it. The stairs are well maintained, and the place is truly amazing - on par with the monkey forest for me. Don’t know why it isn’t advertised more as part of the park.
