Pengempos, Areguling Beach

It took me about 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace to reach from Areguling beach. With proper footwear (hiking shoes/sandals) it could be done in about 45 minutes. If you only have thong flip flops, it’s going to be a lot more difficult and there is a strong possibility of breaking them. A sturdy walking stick is a great help, as the route is extremely uneven and full of slippery surfaces. It also helps a lot to go around low tide so that you can go avoid some tricky vertical climbs by taking the water side, which ceases to be a reasonable option as the water comes in. I really wouldn’t recommend attempting at other times, and especially avoid going at rising tide as you will likely not be able to come back the same way. The spectacular viewpoint has unusually shaped rock spires, huge sheets of partially submerged very flat rock, various knobs and potholes, tide pools, and a picturesque cliff face. There are also many beautiful rocks and scenery along the way.
