WARNING – Beware of Scams around this area. I want to share an alarming experience that happened here as this is a hotspot for a common scam involving scooter theft. While staying in Kuta, I met a traveler who rented a scooter and parked it here. Her scooter, rented from a local homestay, was stolen in broad daylight at this beach. When she reported the theft to the owner, things took a nasty turn. He demanded her passport as "security" and pressured her to pay 13,500,000 IDR (€800) as compensation for the stolen bike—essentially the price of a brand-new scooter. When we went to the police station to report the theft, we uncovered even more suspicious behaviour. Despite the owner claiming he had taken her to file a report the previous day, no report existed. After hours of persistence, we managed to file a new report, but the process was riddled with incompetence and what seemed like corruption. The initial reports left out crucial details like the owner’s information, the scooter’s registration number, and the circumstances of the theft. It felt like the authorities were deliberately unhelpful, likely complicit in these scams. After hours of back-and-forth, the girl was left with no choice but to pay the exorbitant fee to get her passport back. The emotional stress and financial burden were devastating, and I later learned that this type of scam is common in the Kuta area, especially targeting young travellers or those who seem vulnerable. What You Should Know: 1. Scooter thefts at Pantai Torok Bare Beach are common, and locals may be involved in setting up these scams. 2. Never leave your passport with anyone, no matter what. 3. If your scooter is stolen, insist on filing a complete and detailed police report. Be ready to fight for it. 4. Avoid renting scooters from places that don’t provide proper documentation or rent unregistered bikes—it’s a red flag. This beach may seem beautiful, but be cautious when parking here or dealing with local businesses. These scams appear well-organised, with some level of collusion between rental owners and corrupt authorities. This happened on July 30, 2024, and I hope sharing this will help others avoid falling victim to the same scam. Be vigilant and don’t let anyone take advantage of you!

4 stars for how natural and uncrowded this beach is. Minus 1 star due to the mostly coarse sand, and some plastic trash.

This beach is so great because the view is so large so you can see ocean far away, but there's no public facility here you can only find a few bungalows for sitting
