A must for anyone who loves a challenging hike! Hired a local guide who took me up the mountain, unlike mount Batur you won't be held up by overcrowded walking tracks but beware it's a challenging hike that takes around 6 h to complete before you get to the top. Once on top, the views are just STUNNING: You can see the other mountains of Bali as well as mount Rinjani in Lombok.

Probably one of the hardest yet most rewarding hikes I’ve ever done. 8 hours total (4 up, 4 down) starting at 1am in time for sunrise in the clouds. Breathtaking. A few small parts are more like rock climbing, and sometimes it’s hard to see the path so make sure you go with a guide!

The most important thing is not to take mountains lightly. It's quite cold at the summit, even in this area close to the equator, and the weather is changeable. Secondly, this mountain is the God. Please change your mindset. I don't want you to think of it as just an activity or leisure. To ensure a good experience, listen carefully to the opinions of local people and make your decision.

As mentioned before this particular volcano is ''The Focal Point" for all ''Temples and many more Shrines" in Bali .. ( they practise a ''distintive" version of Hinduism unlike in India )

Mount Agung or Gunung Agung is a volcano in Bali, Indonesia, southeast of Mt Baturvolcano, also in Bali. Gunung Agung stratovolcano is the highest point on Bali. It dominates the surrounding area, influencing the climate, especially rainfall patterns. From a distance, the mountain appears to be perfectly conical. From the peak of the mountain, it is possible to see the peak of Mt Rinjani on the nearby island of Lombok, to the east, although both mountains are frequently covered in clouds.
