Very pretty experience. We went with the lovely Anne from @bombora bungalows. She and Wawan, excellent tour guides, to this island and a few magnificent beaches and snorkelling spots.

One of the small dykes in East Lombok, when the sea is low you can cross directly as if the sea is parting. The beach is very nice, you can see Mount Rinjani clearly from here To get here the access is quite extreme, be careful because many people pass through gardens owned by residents. You can ride motorbikes and cars (make sure the car is tall and the driver is reliable) but it's better to just ride a motorbike. Directions are minimal, from the asphalt highway, before Pink Beach, there is a T-junction that looks like people's houses on the left side of the road, so there is a marker to the left to Gili Sunut, then follow the road until you meet a marker for Segui Beach, then turn left to Gili Sunut. Just follow the road straight and you'll see the dyke. To enter Gili Sunut, it's a bit of a bush, but there's a path, between the buildings there is a path.

The last time I came here was in 2008 when it was still inhabited by dozens of family heads. A stretch of residents' houses decorate the edge of the dyke from the south end to the north end, there is a prayer room building and an elementary school (SD) building in the middle of the dyke. In the afternoon I am often invited to play football on the field to the east. Exactly in 2012, I received news that the residents of Sunut would be relocated to Tanjah-Anjah until now. Then at the beginning of 2024 I visited Gili Sunut again to reminisce after 16 years had passed. For a moment my steps stopped when I saw the condition of the dyke which was once busy with stretches of residents' houses, now turned into a forest of bushes and stretches of weeds. NB: For my friends who want to visit Gili Sunut, please bring provisions from home.

One of the unique dykes in East Lombok. The unique thing is that when the sea water is low, you can walk to Gili Sunut without using a boat. When the sea water recedes, a kind of path will appear that connects us to Gili Sunut. The view on this Gili is very beautiful. The beach is clean with white sand. The sea water is clear. You can swim and snorkel. On this dyke there is also a beautiful savanna. And of course there are lots of cool photo spots. Now this Gili is uninhabited because the people who lived on this Gili have been relocated. It is said that this dyke wants to be developed into a leading tourist attraction. The atmosphere on this Gili is very calm and comfortable. Suitable for calming the mind. If you come here, don't forget to bring your own lunch.

The first time I came here was in 2018, alone with a friend who always had the idea of "floating" anywhere 😂 I knew I couldn't swim but I was determined to cross this dyke on foot, towards the dyke the sea water was still knee deep, when I came back it was up to my neck 🤣😅 Back again at the beginning of 2024, because I saw that the weeds were already green, the road was still the same *quite challenging to walk 😁 I've been passing through the residents' corn plantations for a long time, because East Lombok is experiencing a long dry season, so the sea water is still receding
